Creative Professionals Can Upload Quark Documents, Selected Links

Vienna, VA, October 5, 2000 — eMotion Inc., the global leader in digital media management, announced today that its Web-based software application MediaQuestTM now offers robust integration with QuarkXPress(tm), the leading desktop publishing software. This integration allows direct access to MediaQuest functionality from within the active QuarkXPress application so that creative professionals can upload the entire QuarkXPress document and selected linked files such as fonts, images, graphics and text.

This ability to collect and upload all components of a QuarkXPress file to a digital media management system from within the application is a major advancement. Now, when a QuarkXPress user creates a page layout, they can gather all files, such as photos, text and graphics, upload them across the Web, LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network) into eMotion’s MediaQuest server. Once the files have been uploaded, the user can search the QuarkXPress document and any linked files, then download specific components as needed. This utility also features a drag-and-drop desktop “hot folder” for batch uploading.

Metadata is tied to all linked files, for example, photos from Adobe Photoshop®, graphics from Adobe Illustrator® or Macromedia® Freehand®, fonts and text. Not only are component files searchable - the text itself is extracted as a separate file so it can be archived and retrieved independently. Work-in-progress documents can also be archived if needed.
